Friday, August 7th, the Union Parish Farmers football coaches and players welcomed members of the media to the field for a special Media Day as the team prepares to kick off the 2026 football season.
Last season is officially in the rearview mirror, and the Farmers are focused on what lies ahead. With a new head coach, new players stepping into key roles and a schedule packed with tough competition, there is plenty of excitement surrounding Farmers football.
That excitement is especially evident when talking with new Head Coach Dimitri Carr, whose enthusiasm for the upcoming season is impossible to miss. For Carr, the opportunity to lead the Farmers is about much more than football—it is a chance to return home and lead the program where his own football journey began.
Carr is a 2002 Farmerville High School graduate and later graduated from Grambling State University, where he also played football.“I always loved football and knew from an early age that coaching was something I really wanted to do,” Carr said. “Coaching here at home makes that dream so much more special. In 2001, I was a middle linebacker and helped lead the Farmers to the championship while playing for Coach Fine.”
