On Sunday, February 8, Farmerville native Julianne Post, age 21, took to Facebook to perform one of her newest original songs, “Die While I’m Dancing,” which is now available on Spotify. The rising singer-songwriter currently has three original songs streaming on major platforms, including “Long Live the Lost Boys” and *“The Traveler (A Celtic Ballad).” Listeners can follow Julianne on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated on her musical journey.
In mid-2025, while quietly navigating everyday life, Julianne received an unexpected message on Instagram inviting her to audition for American Idol via Zoom. Though stunned, she described the opportunity as both humbling and exciting. After performing several songs for producers during the virtual audition, she advanced to the next round and traveled to Nashville to audition in person for the judges. Her audition aired on Monday, February 9, on ABC.  Julianne said. “I’m so thankful for all the support I have received from the town of Farmerville, Louisiana Tech, and all of my family and friends.”
Julianne is the oldest of seven children born to Brad and Ashley Post. The family attends D’Arbonne Church of Christ in Farmerville, and all seven children were homeschooled.
Her grandparents on her dad’s side are Glen and Cynthia Post, and hergrandma on her mom’s side is Cheryl Jenny and the late Bobby Jenny!
She is currently a student at Louisiana Tech University, where she is pursuing a double major in Music Industry Studies and Finance. Julianne also enjoys having her sister Audra attending Louisiana Tech alongside her.
“Growing up, my family was always singing together—at church, in the car, and sometimes at local events,” Julianne shared. “I’ve been writing songs for as long as I can remember, and I started playing guitar at the age of eight.” With six siblings who also enjoy singing and playing instruments, music is a constant presence in the Post household. Several of her younger siblings, ranging in age from four to seven, are already learning piano and vocal skills.
Julianne has long been active in the local arts community. She has performed at numerous events, such as some hosted by the Union Parish Library where she participated in the annual Poetry Slam during her teenage years, which earned her first place one year with her original song “Never Know When the World Might End.”   While in high school, she also took part in talent showcases and attended UCA’s Summer Music Camp for several years.
Beyond American Idol, Julianne continues to pursue a variety of musical endeavors. She recently performed at the iconic Bluebird Café in Nashville, where she was recognized as a Golden Pick Winner. She is also entering the NPR Tiny Desk Contest and teaches songwriting and guitar lessons.
American Idol returned for Season 24, premiering on January 26. Residents across Union Parish eagerly tuned in, knowing Julianne would soon appear—though her exact air date remained a mystery until early February, when it was announced she would perform on February 9. Julianne auditioned in front of judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
As Julianne prepared for her audition, nerves were high, knowing that thousands audition each season and only a select few receive the coveted Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Her audition, which took place in August 2025, went extremely well. At the time this article was written, the episode had not yet aired, and the outcome of her audition could not be revealed.
Viewers are encouraged to continue watching American Idol Season 24 to follow Julianne Post’s journey and to follow her on Facebook and Instagram as she continues to share her talent and passion for music.
